Pedal for Scotland wins two gold awards at Star Awards
It was a great end to our week as we went along with our client, Cycling Scotland, to the 2010 Marketing Society Star Awards at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. We all had a great night and Pedal for Scotland came away with not one but TWO Gold Star Awards – SME Marketing Star and Event Excellence – brilliant news for all involved!
Lighting up your Christmas
Posted by Andrew in Motion, Photography, video on December 14th, 2009
Rather than sending out dull old christmas cards we decided to get our torches out and spent a few nights making a light graffiti video for you to enjoy. If you haven’t seen this technique before then you’re in for a treat.
We took over 600 long exposure photographs (each lasting anywhere from thirty seconds to a minute in length) and ran them all together as a movie. The animation you see was created by painting the light in front of the camera with head torches, keyring lights, sparklers etc. The final result has no post production special effects, just what came straight out the camera. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Fetch the mulled wine and mince pies, kick back and enjoy our short clip.
Have a great Christmas and New Year from all here at Midgibyte

The music in the track was by the very talented singer/songwriter, Keith Scott:

We’re off to London!
We’re off to London on Monday for the premiere screening of Hewlett Packards ‘A day in the life of Mr Z’ at the BFI Southbank. We’ll keep you posted on what we are up to and how the whole thing goes while we’re down there. We’re very excited to meet all the other agencies and finally see what they created for their slot of the short film.
Busy busy busy….

It’s been non-stop for the last few days (and nights) in here bringing the Mr Z Designer Challenge animation together. There’s been all sorts of strange chicken noises coming from our studio which will probably have worried some of our neighbours. But not to worry, all will be revealed in due course… cockadooodledooooooooooo!
HP Z800 arrives

The new Hewlett Packard z800 arrived yesterday much to our excitement. Our first impressions of the machine have been great. Aesthetically it looks slick and on performance it races past the Mac Pro’s in here without looking back. We still can’t believe that this machine can take up to 192gb of RAM and a 7.5TB hard drive! It’s like you’ve stepped into the future. We did some test renders from lightwave last night and a render that was taking 35 minutes on our Mac Pro only took 8 minutes on the z800 and in an industry where time equates to money this machine will soon pay for itself.
